Notes by the original poster:
As has been mentioned, the film version of the Main Title has been extended with a brief piece of "Snow Ride" by Bernard Herrmann written for THE MAGNIFICENT AMBERSONS.  There are a couple of tracks that defy chronological re-ordering: "Dankgebet" leads into the wartime montage, but I have no idea what that title refers to - and "Big Band" seems to be intended for some part of the Pottersville sequence which utilizes different fragments of diverse, noisy music to sell the degradation of the small town under the influence of Henry F. Potter.
