So, might you be able to tell me: what exactly is the piece of music pulled from the 1999 DVD isolated score (D17 in your Recreated Theatrical Version)? I've bought the Intrada 2-disc Alien soundtrack and the Varèse Sarabande Deluxe Edition of Goldsmith's Freud score (from 2009), managed to wrangle an mp3 of the Howard Hanson piece for the end, and have used your recreated score breakdown to fashion an iPod version of it for my own enjoyment, but I'm missing the two "D17" excerpts at the head and tail of "The Shaft" sequence. It must not be from any of the sources I've just mentioned, otherwise you wouldn't have had to get it from the DVD. Unfortunately, I don't own the 1999 DVD release of Alien (just the Alien Quadrilogy Blu-ray set), and, even if I did, I have no idea how to rip music from a DVD anyway, so my question is a bit moot. Still, I'm curious to know the answer if you can provide one! Thank you!

Thanks for the comments. I cannot identify the music from the 1999 isolated score. I'm not sure where it came from and none of the forums I've visited have any idea either. There are DVD audio extractors out there that can pull the music track off of DVDs if you want a more complete version. If I learn anything more I'll definitely provide an update.

One more question, if I might: why is it that you have Hanson's "Romantic" listed twice at the end of the Recreated Theatrical Version (the first instance combined with "Out the Door (Alternate)" to form "Out the Door," and the second seemingly by itself)? Both instances start at nearly the same time and run to the end of the piece, which is over 14 minutes long. What am I not getting here? Thank you!

The timestamp on Romantic comes from the blu-ray itself since I was unable to obtain a high quality version of it at the time. The music on the blu-ray from 1:53:41-End is the end credits. In referencing that music, only 1:55:00-End is heard as the tail end of Out the Door. The unedited version is then repeated for the credits.
